Helen, the Crazy Cat Lady

This blog will offer a wee tidbit of my writing, and a link to where it may be obtained, as well as news and maybe a few little fun bits every here and there.

The book is out!

Adventures of a Crazy Cat Lady was published yesterday, May 17, 2012.  It has taken me a lifetime of cats to get it all together, and I had to wait for my cousin's daughter to grow up and learn how to draw. But it has finally happened.

You can get it directly from the publisher. In about a week, it will be available at Amazon and on Kindle and in bookstores [although you may need to order it.]

I just signed up for this year's Killer Nashville writers conference.  With not just one, but THREE guest speakers, this promises to be one of the biggest and best Killer Nashvilles ever.

Last year, the conference had grown so much, it had to move from Franklin to the Hutton Hotel in downtown Nashville.  I can't wait until August.

The winter issue of I Love Cats came out this week.  I have not just one, but two articles in this edition.  One, Caramel Cat, is the story of Farouk and his battle with a gourmet caramel candy.  The second, Dangerous Hard Words, is again about Farouk, but this time quite serious, and talks about his battle with a tick-borne disease.  He was a sick kitty for a very long time, but he recovered and went on to kill more caramels and to ride on shoulders playing 'Carrot' [half cat and half parrot].

The magazines aren't available in stores, but you can buy a single copy online at their website.  It is $4.95 well spent.

This has absolutely nothing to do with writing, or  publishing or anything remotely affiliated. This is a rant.   Since this is my blog, I figure I can say whatever I like without fear of censure.

The more I am around people, the more I like my cats. The cats know their limitations, they more or less follow the rules, at least as much as a cat is capable of following rules.  They wait patiently for their dinner, and when it's my time to eat, they just wait their turn.

Not so with people. When I got home today, some friends had dropped in just before I arrived and were hanging out with my son. I don't care one way or the other. But supper was already prepared when I walked it, and was ready for the table. THEY WOULDN'T LEAVE!  No sense of decorum, no "oh, you're ready to sit down. We'll just go on to the house then." No. I got the chicken from oven and they parked their arses as if they were entitled.

Don't get me wrong. They're good peeps. But damn it, go home, why don't ya?

Okay. I'm done now. You may now return to your regular programming.
